Zeta Upsilon History
In the fall of 1977, Zeta Upsilon Chapter started out as Sigma Iota. It was brought together by Kimberly Gryka, Elizabeth Kamp, Lizabeth Hatfield, Barabara Maxon, Mary McDonald, Sharon McGillivary and June Thomas. They chose their outside motto to be "The Sum of Little Parts."
In 1980, Alpha Delta Pi was chosen as our national sorority, during which we became the first sorority at Oakland University. The sisters of the Zeta Upsilon Chapter colony were paired up with big sisters from the Beta Eta chapter at the University of Michigan. On April 18, 1980, Sigma Iota became an Alpha Delta Pi colony.
On October 31, at a special reception, the women greeted visiting officers and alumnae. The women received gifts including the silver punch bowl presented by Grand President Virginia Rosengerg Stafford on behalf of Grand Council and the sister chapters of Alpha Delta Pi.
Zeta Upsilon has a house on Adams Rd which some of the sisters live in. The house is a place that we meet for events, hold mixers, and spend quality time with each other. Many of ADPi's greatest memories have happened there.
In the winter of 2011, Zeta Upsilon was named Greek Organization of the year and also, while paired with other Greek organizations, participated in and won Greek Week.
